The Aztecs also sacrificed humans to their gods and used ceremonial pyramids. They sacrificed more to the gods of war and the sun. The sacrifice's heart was torn out and offered to the gods. They sacrificed people to the sun because they believed the destruction of the earth would happen with the death of the sun and therefore they had to keep the sun healthy and happy.

After death the good go to the tropical paradise and the bad go to a cold, dark hell. Aztec religion emphasized the importance of sacrifices to entering the supernatural. Priests were celibate and self-sacrificing. They had a complex calendar full of ceremonies that help them communicate with the supernatural. They would hold celebrations in temples involving dances, songs, and processionals. Each god got their own special day.

Incas lived in South America and the Andes. Incas spoke the quechua language. They used quipu to keep records. It was a series of knots along a string. The color and position of the knots served as a way to remember important occurances. They made buildings out of mortar and were extremely sturdy and tightly packed. Their creator god was called Viracocha. This god created the universe and protected the emperor. Inti was the sun god. Apu Illapu was the rain-giver. Mama-Kilya, the wife of the sun, was the moon mother and contolled women's menstrations. Inca religion was a mixture of animistic and nature worship resulting in a worship of the sun. Priests sacrificed white llamas to the gods and ate coca leaves to help them communicate, through ventriloquism, with spirits. Children were also another popular sacrifice. When you died if you had been good, "do not steal, do not lie, do not be lazy", you would live in the warmth of the sun forever. If you had been bad in life you would go to live in the cold earth.
